Screen's brief for their showroom was to create
a welcoming, light, airy environment for staff to
work and demonstrate the features of Workflow, the
software that communicates with all the equipment
needed in the printing process. The final layout
needed to emulate the equipment's relationship to
Workflow.
The showroom just off from the main reception area
had not been altered since the building's construction
in the early eighties and was dark and gloomy. Everything
was stripped out to provide a blank canvas to work
with.
A central walkway was designed to lead you from
the entrance at reception into the central Workflow
space. A large logo feature fin was positioned in
the centre of this area from which two large desking
units radiated.
Two existing columns were re-clad and two more were
contructed to balance the view and enabled services
to be run from the central area through the columns
and fed to the low level dividing walls which provided
backdrops to smaller pieces of equipment.
Change in floor finishes to highlight different
product areas, use of fresh coloured wall finishes,
vibrant graphics, and general and accent lighting
helped to achieve Screen's objective.
